Shiatsu treatment

The aim of a Shiatsu treatment is to activate and enhance the flow of energy throughout the body. This is achieved by applying pressure to the meridians (energy pathways), which run close to the surface of the body, and to the acupressure points located along these meridians. Together, the meridians and their acupressure points form an energetic network that is connected to the body’s organs, tissues, and sensory systems. They regulate and support essential bodily functions, such as blood circulation and digestion. In addition, the meridians are closely linked to the elements of the Five Elements cycle. When one or more meridians become imbalanced or disrupted, this may eventually give rise to health complaints affecting the corresponding organs, tissues, and/or senses.
By treating the relevant meridian and/or its acupressure points, Shiatsu seeks to restore balance not only to the associated organ but also to the body’s entire energetic system.
A Shiatsu treatment has both a healing and deeply relaxing effect. It helps you become more grounded in your body, creates a greater sense of openness and space within, promotes inner calm, and supports the release of energetic blockages on both a physical and emotional level. During or after a treatment, this is often experienced as a feeling of lightness, freedom, or relief.
It is also common to experience various bodily sensations during a Shiatsu session, such as warmth or coolness, tingling, changes in energy levels, a sense of expansion or release, areas of tension becoming more noticeable or softening, or emotions that surface and are gradually released.
